As a result of Turkey’s membership of the EPC, on January 11, 2000, Simge IP has managed provisional protection and validation of European Patents before the Turkish Patent Institute. Turkey is not party to the London Agreement regarding validation of European Patents. The bibliographical data of the publication of European patent application requires a Turkish translation of claims accompanied with illustrations. Provisional protection is possible in Turkey for a published European patent by filing for a Turkish translation of claims and by paying a special fee to the Turkish Patent Institute. Provisional protection in Turkey starts when a Turkish translation of claims is made available to the public via the Official Turkish Patent Bulletin of the Turkish Patent Institute.

Our Patent Department leads on the translation of patent specifications whilst submitting supporting documents to be filed with the Turkish Patent Institute and the courts. We work with a force of notary approved, sworn translators in-house who are highly qualified and experienced in translating English, German, and French into Turkish (or vice versa). We use professional proof-reading and editing services from free-lance specialists of different industrial backgrounds when required, thus ensuring fast evaluation of patent documents by related authorities.
